Description:     
The CanMEDS Framework defines the key competencies needed for medical education and practice. The framework is based on 7 core CanMEDS Roles: Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar, and Professional. The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada first championed the CanMEDS Framework in 1996. The framework was revalidated, revised, updated and re-launched in fall of 2005 and now forms the basis of the Royal College’s educational mission. It has been incorporated into accreditation, evaluation and examinations as well as objectives of training and standards for continuing professional development. CanMEDS Roles have also been adopted and adapted by many jurisdictions and health professionals around the world.
